Oxfam Novib is recruiting interns for various units, each working on critical issues such as peacebuilding, resilience, advocacy, and community empowerment. Below are the internship opportunities available across our teams.

8. Learning Innovation and Knowledge unit - Design & Innovation across Oxfam Novib

The Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LINK) Unit is a specialty unit housed in the Programs Department, which consists of seven goal units and two expertise units, of which LINK is one. The LINK unit supports, connects and collaborates with colleagues and partners to ensure that impactful multi-country programs are informed by sound research methodologies, monitoring and evidence of progress towards objectives, as well as lessons learnt on what works for our EQUAL, GREEN, FAIR and SAFE goals. The LINK unit has four sub teams - Research, Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), Design and Innovation, and Learning and Knowledge.

 

The Design & Innovation team supports units and colleagues across Oxfam Novib with creative problem solving and strategic process design. As an intern, you will contribute to ongoing collaborative projects focused on systemic change, further developing our unique approach to innovation, and supporting our journey to transform the organization's role in partnerships.

 

Key Tasks:
📅 Support the organization of workshops and collaborative sessions, including coordinating logistics
🔍 Conduct research, benchmarking, and gather inspiration to support our design processes
📚 Contribute to reflection and learning across all projects, including clear documentation of our processes and insights
💡 Introduce and apply innovative approaches and co-creation methods to strengthen ongoing initiatives

 

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 A current Master's student in Strategic Design, Design Futures, Business Innovation, or a related field
 
💡 A creative and critical thinker, ideally with some knowledge of systems change
 
🖥️ Comfortable using online collaboration tools like Miro, and preferably with an interest in how AI can support design processes
 
🌍 Passionate, curious, and committed to use design and innovation to help build a more equal and fair world

9. Learning Innovation and Knowledge unit - Quantitative Research

 

The Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LINK) Unit is a specialty unit housed in the Programs Department, which consists of seven goal units and two expertise units, of which LINK is one. The LINK unit supports, connects and collaborates with colleagues and partners to ensure that impactful multi-country programs are informed by sound research methodologies, monitoring and evidence of progress towards objectives, as well as lessons learnt on what works for our EQUAL, GREEN, FAIR and SAFE goals. The LINK unit has four sub teams - Research, Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), Design and Innovation, and Learning and Knowledge.

The Research sub team is made up of a diverse group of enthusiastic quantitative and qualitative researchers. Their work aims at 1) understanding effectiveness and impact of programs to show Oxfam Novib’s contribution to social change; 2) identifying opportunities for positive change; 3) contributing to the strategic and organizational direction for Oxfam Novib and 4) contributing to accessibility and dissemination of knowledge. This internship will be hosted within the research team, to engage with ongoing projects around activism, engagement with the Dutch public, fair finance, and other topics. There will be ample opportunity to learn new skills, and engage with a diverse, feminist and passionate group of action researchers.


Key Tasks:
📝 Construct online surveys (configuring questions, options, layout, for effective data collection), importing and exporting data
📊 Producing visually appealing charts and infographics
💻 Conduct initial coding and thematic analysis using MAXQDA to extract and organize key insights from qualitative data
🎤 Support in accurate annotation and data collection during focus groups or interviews
📚 Conduct literature/desk reviews and summarize key findings on topics such as activism, campaigning, fair financing, and other interesting topics
📄 Assist with preparing and formatting relevant communications material such as reports, and presentations.

 

Who are we looking for?
🎓 Currently a Master’s degree student in a relevant study. Students in social science or data science are encouraged
💻 Very good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), and ideally software related to data analysis (e.g., Python, MaxQDA) and visuals (e.g., PowerBI; Canva)
📊 Experience with cleaning and organizing quantitative data and conducting descriptive and/or inferential statistical analysis
💬 Excellent written & spoken English skills. Knowledge of other languages is welcome
🌍 Strong cultural sensitivity and gender awareness
Organized, punctual, and attentive to detail

10. Partnerships and Programs Development Unit - Partnership & Mutual Capacity Strengthening (MCS)

 

In this internship, you will contribute to the decolonization efforts of Oxfam Novib, working closely with the MCS Specialists and the Partnership Development Specialist. You will support initiatives that seek to establish a practice of capacity sharing and authentic and equitable partnership between Oxfam Novib and partners across the countries where we work. You will support projects on fair value chains, sexual and reproductive health, and climate justice. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to explore additional aspects of working in an INGO that you find interesting for your own professional and personal development.

 

Key Tasks:
🏋️‍♀️ Support in the management of the Mutual Capacity Strengthening and Equal Partnership component of the FAIR for ALL, Masarouna and AACJ projects
🤝Support on the implementation of the Authentic Partnership Vision and its Strategic Goals for the organization as part of the Equal partnership workstream
📊 Support in analysis of data on capacity and development of capacity strengthening trajectories for partners in Oxfam Novib’s projects around the world
👩‍🍳 Transforming complex documents and policies into learning and communication material
🏫 Simplify complex materials into clear learning and communication tools, and contribute to e-learnings, trainings, and content design (e.g., blogs, reports, presentations).
💬 Assist with meeting preparation, event facilitation, and participate in team initiatives and ad-hoc tasks across projects.

 

Who are we looking for?
📚 Currently studying in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, International Studies, Development, Cooperation, and similar.
🎇 Very good command of software to produce creative content (e.g. Canva, Adobe Photoshop) – wow us with your CV design! Experience with Miro or similar and e-learning development is a plus
👓 Experience with analyzing qualitative data and synthetizing the information
🤼 Someone who likes to work in teams, and participate in brainstorming and creative sessions
📣 A critical thinker who is up to date with the recent trends in the non-profit sector, does not shy away from taking the lead and taking responsibility, and is not scared to speak up!
💬 Have excellent written & spoken English skills. Other languages like French, Portuguese and Arabic grant a little advantage.

11. SAFE Unit – Support to humanitarian logistics project

The SAFE Unit within the Oxfam Novib Programs Department develops and co-implements (influencing) programs in the following areas: Promoting Safe and Resilient Communities and Supporting People on the Move. The Unit is also responsible for upholding and promoting Oxfam’s humanitarian mandate within Oxfam Novib through program/proposal development, resource mobilization, and advocacy and campaigns in the Netherlands.

The intern will support the team on its PARCEL Project (Partner Capacity Enhancement in Logistics), which is an inter-agency project that aims to transform humanitarian logistics through capacity sharing and local leadership. The project is developing training and tools on humanitarian Supply Chain and Logistics as well as conducting research and building a network. The intern will support the team in knowledge management, training and tools development, research, stakeholder engagement and communication. This intern will have a unique opportunity to engage with local humanitarian actors around the world in an exciting and innovative project.

12. Fair Financial Systems and Investments Unit – Support to fostering fair finance & investment sectors

 

The FAIR Financial Systems and Investments Unit co-implements (influencing) programs addressing extreme inequality and climate change driven by todays’ growth-focused economic system. It focuses on a fair tax system and public spending, responsible investments & entrepreneurship beyond growth and new economy thinking.


The unit's different teams (Fair Finance, Public Finance & Inequality, Impact SME development, and Impact Investment & Microfinance) all aim to contribute to this shift towards an alternative economic system. More information about the unit’s different workstreams can be found

Key Tasks:
📚 Assist in research and writing for thematic papers
📝 Create content for communications materials such as newsletters, blog posts, webpages, social media, infographics, and case studies
📅 Be involved in overall project management cycles, including drafting input for fundraising, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation when needed
🔍 Contribute to ongoing research and advocacy efforts related to fair taxation, inclusive & responsible business models, impact investment, and climate finance
📢 Share research findings and insights through presentations, workshops, articles, or other tools

13. Fair Value Chains and Food Systems Unit - Support to FAIR for ALL project with focus on writing and storytelling

In this internship, you will join the FAIR for ALL project, working on creating a fairer global value chain. In this team we are looking for someone who can use her/his/their creativity to help us turn some of this work into a children’s book, as well as supporting us with more general communications assignments.

 

Key Tasks:
📚 Assist with coordination of a children's book on the FAIR for ALL program
📝 Assist with FAIR for ALL communication and community engagement tasks: writing engaging and compelling human-interest stories, case studies
📰 Assist with the bi-weekly program newsletter

 

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 Currently enrolled in a master’s program in Marketing Management, Communication Management, Product Management, Publishing, or any related field
📖 Skills in storytelling, with a heart for children’s stories
👁️ An eye for visual design
Familiarity with email marketing, social media marketing, content creation, and video editing is a plus

14. Climate Resilient Communities Unit - Local value chain development

 

This internship is hosted by the Seeds for Resilience program team within the GREEN/Climate Resilience unit at Oxfam Novib. The foundations of the seeds work stems from the SD=HS program (www.sdhsprogram.org) and are now used in four projects including Cultivating Change and Rooted in Diversity. The focus of the internship will be on development of local value chains.

 

Key tasks:
🌱 The intern will work with the value chain colleagues in the seeds team to analyze and update the existing and new Farmer Field School’s guidelines on local value chains development at Oxfam and country partner organisations.
📚 The intern will also be tasked to analyze and write case studies on local value chains, based on the work done by our partners in countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
🤝 Finally, the intern will be part of the daily work of the seeds+ team and perform some tasks to support this team.

 

Who Are We Looking For? 
🎓 Specific requirement for this position is following a master’s degree in food systems and/or local value chain development or a related study in social sciences
🌾 A good understanding of seed and food systems and agrobiodiversity issues
📊 Experience with literature reviews, data collection and analysis
💬 Good communication skills in English and preferably also in French or Spanish

15. Internship in Equal Rights for All Unit – Support learning trajectories on Decolonial Feminism.  

The Equal Rights for All (ER4A) unit develops and implements feminist programs supporting women, youth, activists and marginalized groups to design their own future and support the integration of feminist principles and decolonial approaches in all Oxfam Novib’s programmatic work. The intern will support the implementation of ER4A’s learning trajectories on Decolonial Feminism.

 

Key Tasks:
📚 Desk review and collection of lessons learned from ER4A’s two ongoing projects
📝 Help prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders (internal and external)
📅 Organize internal meetings to disseminate findings

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 Enrolled in a Master’s program in a relevant field
🔍 Strong research, data analysis and writing skills
Rainbow smile Experience and/or affinity with ER4A themes (empowering marginalized/excluded groups, especially women, LGBTIQ+ people and youth), feminism, and decolonial principles

Internship Eligibility Criteria

Applicants to the internships at Oxfam Novib must meet the following requirements:

·        Be a student of 18 years or older

·        Be enrolled at a Dutch educational institution (first level university degree, higher schools (HBO) or other) for the whole duration of the internship,

·        Have the legal right to live and work in The Netherlands or be prepared to obtain the right to follow an internship as part of their study in the Dutch educational institution. A three-partite internship agreement (between Oxfam Novib, the educational institution and the student) will be signed to that effect.

·        Have less than 3 years of relevant full-time work experience.

·        Not having been in employment with Oxfam Novib previously.

 

Please note: this internship is formulated as work experience to develop an understanding of career objectives. It is not meant to be a thesis internship.

 

Our offer
An intern in Oxfam Novib is offered an internship contract for the duration of the internship and a monthly allowance based on €450,- per month on a basis of a 36-hour work week, pro-rata in case of less hours.

The intern is expected to have a student OV card; however, if this is not the case, a reimbursement of commuting costs will be offered.

Oxfam Novib has a hybrid working policy: partly from office, partly from home. Interns are expected to be on-site in our office in The Hague at least two days a week, with remote work flexibility.

During the internship, the intern is supervised. The period of the internships takes place between September 2025 and February 2026 (approximately a period of 5 months).
