Oxfam Novib is recruiting interns for various units, each working on critical issues such as peacebuilding, resilience, advocacy, and community empowerment. Below are the internship opportunities available across our teams.

5. Compliance and Risk Support Unit – Support to Internal Projects

 

The CORE Unit within the Oxfam Novib Finance and Operations is tasked with ensuring robust risk management, high operational quality, and comprehensive compliance advice and oversight across the organization. The unit serves as a central hub for managing organizational and project-level risks while ensuring that key controls are in place alongside the project cycle.

 

The intern will support the CORE Unit in various stages of the Project Cycle. Particular focus will be on the support in the implementation of internal projects that aim to increase efficiency in Oxfam Novib's management of the project cycle.

 

Key Tasks:
🛠️ Assist the CORE team in daily tasks related to Oxfam Novib Project Cycle
⚙️ Support the implementation of internal projects related to the efficiency and simplification of the Project Cycle and Project Management practices
 
📊 Analyse data related to process duration
 
💡 Develop and present improvement ideas

 

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in a relevant field (business administration, project management, economics)
🙂 A very positive attitude

📈 Strong interest in project management and risk analyses
💬 Strong English language skills
💻 Strong command of MS Office, with particular emphasis on Excel. Comfortable using online collaboration tools like Miro, and preferably with an interest in how AI can support project management processes
🧠 Critical thinker with a logical mind

6. Finance & Control Unit - Finance Administration

Finance & Control unit is responsible for all the financial administration of Oxfam Novib activities, its treasury management and its financial planning and control cycle. Within the Financial Administration (FA) team, we want to implement an action plan to improve our management of Fixed Assets, based on the recommendations agreed after an Internal Audit. 

 

Key Tasks:
📝 Contribute to prepare a plan to review Fixed Assets acquisition process from requisition to disposal
 📚 Propose guidelines or a manual on accounting treatment of Fixed Assets and its budget impact
 📋 Define and implement a fixed asset register, with clear owners
 🔍 Review current asset register in SAP and see if any of them can be identified and moved to the new register
 🤝 In addition to focusing on fixed assets, assist with various finance and administration team tasks

 

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 Master’s degree student in Business Administration, Economics or similar
 💻 Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with advanced knowledge of data analysis
 🚀 Proactivity and capacity to organize self

7. Global Business Support Unit - International HR

 

This internship will be part of the EA Global Business Support Unit (EAGBS) Unit. The mission of the EAGBS unit is to support international business operations in countries and clusters with the goal of enhancing the impact of our programs and ensuring our work is efficient, safe, accountable and sustainable. The unit is composed of people working on Finance, Supply & Logistics, Country Relations Management, Roving Managers and HR. The intern will work in the International HR team that consists of one HRBP, and 3 HR advisors.

 

Key Tasks:
📅 Project Management Support: Collaborate with HR Business Partners to drive HR projects forward, ensuring timely delivery and effective implementation
🤝 Recruitment Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing recruitment activities for our Country Offices in Tunisia, Somalia, OPT, Mozambique, Uganda, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Niger, and Nigeria
🔄 Employee Lifecycle Support: Contribute to the onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes for expatriate staff
📂 HR Administration: Help maintain accurate HR documentation and support daily operational tasks

Who Are We Looking For?
🎓 Enrolled in a relevant university (of applied sciences) program (e.g., Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology)

💬 Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g. French) are a strong asset

Internship Eligibility Criteria

Applicants to the internships at Oxfam Novib must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a student of 18 years or older
  • Be enrolled at a Dutch educational institution (first level university degree, higher schools (HBO) or other) for the whole duration of the internship.
  • Have the legal right to live and work in The Netherlands or be prepared to obtain the right to follow an internship as part of their study in the Dutch educational institution. A three-partite internship agreement (between Oxfam Novib, the educational institution and the student) will be signed to that effect.
  • Have less than 3 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Not having been in employment with Oxfam Novib previously.

Please note: this internship is formulated as work experience to develop an understanding of career objectives. It is not meant to be a thesis internship.

 

Our offer
An intern in Oxfam Novib is offered an internship contract for the duration of the internship and a monthly allowance based on €450,- per month on a basis of a 36-hour work week, pro-rata in case of less hours.

The intern is expected to have a student OV card; however, if this is not the case, a reimbursement of commuting costs will be offered.

Oxfam Novib has a hybrid working policy: partly from office, partly from home. Interns are expected to be on-site in our office in The Hague at least two days a week, with remote work flexibility.

During the internship, the intern is supervised. The period of the internships takes place between September 2025 and February 2026 (approximately a period of 5 months).
