Oxfam Novib is seeking a Business Analyst (Data Specialist) for a temporary six-month position within the Business Intelligence team, with the possibility of extension. This role serves as a replacement due to a colleague’s long-term illness and is intended to complement and strengthen the team’s existing analytical capacity.

Job description
As a Data Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for translating data into information serving non-techninal stakeholders. You will identify key users information needs, and ensure the reporting solution will effectively address organizational challenges. This role requires data management skills and a strong analytical mindset.

Improving data management and integrations between the current applications and data warehouses in a renewing application landscape.

You will join the ICT unit, specifically the Business Intelligence Team, working alongside a Team Lead and two Business Analysts and an information specialist. Active participation in organization-wide projects is expected, with a focus on building relationships with IT colleagues, internal staff, and external stakeholders. You will report directly to the Manager of ICT & Facilities and play a crucial role in delivering impactful solutions.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Identify business information needs and discover reporting solutions to intelligently enhance the business through technology.
  • Advise and improve the overall data management.
  • Unlock data and make data available from source systems into data warehouses.
  • Support key users in data use and building PowerBI reports
  • Where necessary build reports and dashboards in PowerBI
  • Assure, build and improve data integrations between business applications
  • Configure, maintain and monitor datafactory processes and the data warehouse.
  • Conduct workshops and presentations to share reports and dashboards, ideas and findings.
  • Create and maintain documentation and data flows in accordance using best practices.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, e.g., Data science, Data management, Data analytics and/or Business Information Technology.
  • At least three years’ proven experience in data analysis, data management, integration and reporting and dashboarding.
  • Demonstrated experience in PowerBI.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work collaboratively to identify acceptable solutions.
  • Capable of multitasking and adapting to a complex and evolving work environment.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English; Dutch language proficiency is appreciated but not required.
  • Experience with PowerBI, SQL, Azure Datafactory, SQL Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Microsoft tooling, Jira and Confluence is a plus.
  • Valid permit to live and work in the Netherlands.

The salary range for this position is set in scale 9 with a salary range between €3.447,- and €5.183,- gross depending on experience, based on 36 hours a week. The role is temporary six-month position within the Business Intelligence team, with the possibility of extension. This role serves as a replacement due to a colleague’s long-term illness and is intended to complement and strengthen the team’s existing analytical capacity.
